Two-tone custom kitchen island

Kitchen cabinets, islands and pantries

Every kitchen we build is made to the room: the walls you have, the appliances you chose and the way you cook. We build:

  • Custom kitchen cabinetry and islands
  • Pantries, butler’s pantries, and specialty storage
  • Work with your interior designer, architect or general contractor
  • Painted or stained wood in a Renner Italian high-end finish, or a wood-look veneer

Frameless, framed or inset?

Our specialty is European-style frameless cabinets, the budget-friendly way to a full custom kitchen: doors cover the whole box, in solid colors or a wood-look veneer. We also build framed cabinets with full or partial overlay doors, and inset cabinets, where each door sits flush inside its opening: stained wood inset, or frameless inset. How we build cabinets compares them side by side.

What goes into our kitchens

  • Boxes: 3/4-inch plywood or melamine (Tafisa or another established brand), back included.
  • Drawers: dovetailed maple boxes, or Blum drawer boxes if you prefer.
  • Hinges and slides: Blum soft-close hinges close every door quietly; Salice full-extension drawer slides let each drawer open all the way.
  • Finish: Renner, an Italian high-end coating.
  • Inside the cabinets: trash pull-outs, roll-out trays, corner drawers and other fittings, planned around what you store.

Planning a kitchen remodel: the part we do

For most homeowners a kitchen remodel starts with the cabinets, and that is our work. We measure the room, design the cabinets with you, build them in our shop and install them: the island, the pantry and the trim around them included. If the old cabinets need to come out, we can remove them when your quote lists it.

The rest of a remodel usually belongs to other trades: the countertops, the plumbing, the electrical, the walls and the floors. They are part of our job only when your written scope lists them. Even then, the plumbing and electrical are done by licensed trades we coordinate.

If a general contractor or a designer is leading the remodel, we work with them, from their drawings. If you are running a bigger remodel yourself, tell us what else is changing, and we will tell you at the visit what we can take on.

How it works

First comes the visit, where we measure your kitchen and give you an initial price. If it works for you, the design package covers the detailed measuring and the drawings, a 2D layout or 3D renderings or both, and ends with the final price. One major revision is included. An average kitchen takes roughly 6 to 8 weeks from signed drawings, and installing it usually takes 1 to 3 days. See every step, from visit to install.

What drives the price of a kitchen

  • Size: how many cabinets there are, and how tall they go.
  • Construction: frameless is the budget-friendly route; framed and inset take more fitting.
  • Material and finish: melamine, a wood-look veneer, painted wood or stained wood, and the species.
  • Doors and drawers: the door style, and how many drawers.
  • What goes inside: each pull-out or corner fitting adds hardware and fitting time.
  • Panels and details: finished island ends, appliance panels, crown and fillers.

Want to keep the cost down? Our specialty, European-style frameless with flat-panel fronts, is the budget-friendly route. You get a first number at the visit. The final price comes with the drawings. Delivery and installation are their own line on the quote, so you can see the difference if you have your own installers.

Common questions

Questions about custom kitchen cabinets

How do you price a kitchen?

It starts with a free visit and consultation. We measure, we listen, and we give you a straight number. If it works for you, we design it with you in a paid design package. The drawings give you the final price, and only then do we build. If you or your GC already have drawings, we price from those as given. The FAQ explains how the process works.

If I order now, when will my kitchen be done?

For an average kitchen, plan on about 6 to 8 weeks from signed drawings to delivery, then usually 1 to 3 days to install. The real date depends on the detail and on how busy the shop is, so we give you a schedule for your project rather than a fixed number.

Does the cabinet price include countertops, plumbing and electrical?

Only if your written scope lists them. Delivery and installation are included in our quote as their own line item, separate from the cabinets, so if you have your own installers you can see the difference. The rest of the remodel usually belongs to other trades. Check what a cabinet quote includes before you compare proposals.

Do I need a general contractor for new kitchen cabinets?

Not always. We work directly with homeowners, and with general contractors, interior designers, developers and architects. If walls, plumbing or electrical are changing, decide early who handles that work and its inspections, because it has to be done before the cabinets arrive.

Can you build from my kitchen designer's plans?

Yes. Send the plans and tell us who is making the design decisions. We turn them into a 2D layout, and nothing gets built until you approve it.

Can I pay by credit card?

No. We take checks and bank transfers, not credit or debit cards. The deposit and when the balance is due are in the FAQ.

What's the difference between frameless and framed kitchen cabinets?

Frameless cabinets have no frame on the front, so the doors cover the whole box and you reach the full width inside. Framed cabinets have a wood frame on the front that the doors hang on. Frameless is usually the budget-friendly choice; framed suits shaker and classic kitchens. How we build cabinets has the full comparison.

Do you build inset kitchen cabinets?

Yes. We build stained wood inset cabinets, and we can also offer frameless inset. Inset takes the most fitting of any construction.

Can you build around the appliances I already have?

Yes. Send us the model numbers, or show us the appliances at the visit, and we size the cabinets to fit them.
