Common questions
What contractors ask before a bid
Can you bid from our drawings?
Yes, that's how we price. Send the drawings, quantities and division of responsibilities, and we quote the actual scope rather than applying a fixed trade discount.
Do you supply only, or supply and install?
Either. We install what we build, and we also fabricate for GCs and builders whose own crews install. Say which at bid time so the quote assigns measuring, delivery, installation and final adjustments.
What's your fabrication lead time?
About 6 to 8 weeks from signed drawings for an average kitchen. Built-ins and millwork usually take 4 to 6 weeks, sometimes less, depending on scope. We give you a schedule for the specific job so you can sequence around it.
Do you provide drawings for approval?
Yes. We provide a 2D layout for approval, with 3D renderings where useful, and one major revision is included. After that, changes go on a written change order, and the cost is confirmed before we proceed.
What warranty do you give on installed work?
One year on workmanship (fit, joinery and finish) from installation. Hinges and slides are Blum and Salice, covered by the manufacturer's own warranty.
Who takes the field measurements?
Whoever the written proposal names. We price from your drawings and dimensions as given; if you want us to remeasure the site, that time is added to the price. The proposal says who measures, approves, delivers and installs.
Are you insured?
Yes, insured and licensed where required. Send your specification requirements with the bid package so we can price to them.
Do you work on commercial projects?
Yes, suitable commercial millwork and casework. We built a fluted white oak lobby kitchenette in Evanston for a general contractor. For a store in Chicago's Bucktown we built the counter, the plank wall and the millwork, to an architect's drawings.
