Stairs, trim and vanities

Finish carpentry is where drawings meet walls. We bring fabrication habits to site work: joints, alignments, and transitions done with shop care. Our crews work across the northwest suburbs and the surrounding counties.

  • Stairs and railings
  • Interior trim and casing packages
  • Doors, frames, and hardware coordination
  • Vanities and site-installed woodwork tied to millwork scopes

Common questions

What people ask about trim and stairs

Can you price trim or crown molding from photos?

Photos help us see the job before we come, and they help us separate the woodwork from any wall repair or painting around it. We measure at the visit and give you a straight number there.

Do you paint the trim after you install it?

Not automatically. Your written scope says exactly what we do, and painting or wall repair is only part of it when it's listed. If it isn't, line up a painter for after the install.

Can you rebuild a whole staircase, not just the railing?

Yes, full structural rebuilds as well as new treads, railings and balusters. A rebuild can involve engineering or a permit depending on your town, so send photos of the whole stair and landings and we'll scope it. There's more on stair work in the FAQ.

Can you work alongside my remodeling contractor?

Yes. We work with homeowners and with general contractors, interior designers, developers and architects. Tell us at the start who is doing what, so the woodwork, wall repair and painting are clearly divided.

Is carpentry work covered by a warranty?

Yes. Our workmanship (fit, joinery and finish) is warrantied for one year from installation, and hardware is covered by its manufacturer. The full warranty answer says what to send us if something comes up.

Where have you done stair work?

We rebuilt staircases in full in Glencoe and Lake Forest; the Glencoe stair is white oak. In South Barrington and Hinsdale we put new treads and a new railing on the existing stairs.

Can you match a trim profile that's no longer made?

Usually, yes. We reproduce custom and discontinued trim and molding profiles, so new casing, baseboard or crown matches what is already in the house. Show us the profile at the visit.

Do you build bathroom vanities?

Yes, including floating vanities hung on a rail fixed to the wall. See custom vanities.
