Closets

Custom closets built around what you own

We measure the space, plan it around your routine, build it in our Spring Grove shop, and install it.

Walk-in closet with island and drawers
Barrington wall-to-wall wardrobe closet

Walk-ins, reach-ins, wardrobes and mudrooms

A closet should fit what you own: long hanging for coats, short for shirts, a drawer for the things that never found a home.

We build:

  • walk-in closets with hanging space, shelves, drawers and pull-outs
  • reach-in closets that use the full height of the wall
  • wardrobes for a bedroom without a closet, wall to wall or freestanding
  • closet doors, sliding or hinged, made to fit the opening
  • mudroom benches with cubbies, hooks and drawers

Choose painted or stained wood, or a wood-look veneer. Boxes are plywood or melamine. Blum soft-close hinges close doors quietly, and Salice full-extension drawer slides let a drawer open all the way.

How it works

It starts with a visit. We measure, we listen, and we give you a straight number. If it works for you, we design it with you, and only then do we build. The design package covers the detailed measuring and the drawings, a 2D layout or 3D renderings or both, and ends with the final price. One major revision is included. A closet or wardrobe usually takes four to six weeks from signed drawings, sometimes less, depending on the scope. Installing one takes much less time than a kitchen, which runs one to three days.

What drives the price

Four things set the price:

  • the size of the space and how much of it gets built out
  • drawers and doors cost more than open shelves and rods
  • the material and the finish
  • sliding doors need a track and a true opening, so an out-of-square wall adds fitting time

Want to keep the cost down? Choose more shelves and hanging, and fewer drawers. You get a first number at the visit. The final price comes with the drawings.

What people ask about closets

Can you build a closet where there is none?

Yes. A wall-to-wall wardrobe gives a bedroom a closet without building a new wall.

Can the closet match the rest of the house?

Yes. We build the doors in the style you choose, and we can match your existing trim, even a profile nobody sells any more.

Do I need a contractor?

Not always. Homeowners come to us directly for closets. If your project has a contractor or designer, we work from their drawings.

Do I need a permit?

Usually not for a closet or a wardrobe. We pull one when the law requires it.

Is there a warranty?

Yes, a written one-year workmanship warranty from the install date. Hardware carries its maker's own warranty.

Can you build mudroom storage?

Yes: a bench with cubbies, hooks and drawers, sized to what comes through the door, such as coats, boots, backpacks and seasonal gear.

What are closet doors made of?

Painted or stained wood, or melamine. The full-height wardrobe wall we built in Barrington is white flat-panel.

Can you replace the wire shelving in a walk-in?

Yes. We measure the walk-in and build it out with drawers, shelves, and long and short hanging, sized to what you own.

Family owned. Insured and licensed where required. A written one-year workmanship warranty. We build in our own shop and install the work ourselves.

From Spring Grove we work across McHenry, Lake, Kane, DuPage and Cook counties: the northwest suburbs and Barrington, the North Shore from Evanston and Wilmette to Winnetka, Glencoe and Lake Forest, and the towns in between.
