Campton Hills only became a village on May 14, 2007, around the older community of Wasco, where Campton Town Hall (1873) still stands. It adopted its first comprehensive plan of its own in 2012 and describes itself as mostly homes, open space and farmland. Kane County's health department oversees wells and septic systems here, and the township keeps the roads. In 2025 the village took up a plan to annex 962 acres for about 900 new homes, called LaFox of Campton Hills.

Homes here sit on country lots; the median house was built in 1989. That brings its own list:

• Mudrooms and laundry rooms. If the back door is the one your family uses, lockers, a bench, a boot drawer and a laundry wall with folding space get used every day.
• Kitchens. If the house has room to grow the kitchen into a breakfast area or the family room, decide that before the cabinets are drawn.
• Finished basements. The village lists finishing a basement as permit work; a media wall or a bar can be part of it.

Do I need a permit in Campton Hills?

The village, not Kane County, issues building permits. Its welcome booklet lists permits for single-family remodel work and for finishing a basement; it does not name kitchens or cabinets. • The village, not the county. Campton Hills issues its own building permits, and its booklet lists single-family remodel work and finishing a basement among them. Ask the village about your kitchen; we pull the permit ourselves when it is needed.
• Well and septic. Kane County's health department oversees wells and septic systems here. If the plan adds a bathroom or moves plumbing far, ask early whether the septic system is affected.
• Modern or country. Our Campton Hills kitchen is modern flat-panel. A country house can go either way: flat panels for a clean look, shaker or raised-panel doors for a traditional one.
• Rooms beyond the kitchen. If a mudroom, the laundry or the basement is on the list, plan it with the kitchen, so one set of drawings covers it.
• Settle what you can at the first visit. At about an hour from the shop, it pays to have the appliance models, the rooms you want done and what stays in hand when we come to measure.

2. The design package, with drawings, one major revision and the final price.
3. The village permit, where one is required.
4. The build. Roughly 6 to 8 weeks from signed drawings for an average kitchen; built-ins and closets usually 4 to 6. Everything is built in the shop, so most of the time in your house is the delivery and the install.
5. Installation. For a full kitchen, usually 1 to 3 days in the house.
