Custom cabinets, built in Spring Grove

We build our custom cabinets at our shop on Industrial Drive in Spring Grove, in northern McHenry County. For a Spring Grove homeowner the shop is a few minutes away: we come out to measure, and you can see samples and past work at the shop by appointment.

Homes in Spring Grove, and what they need from cabinets

Spring Grove grew from about 1,066 residents in 1990 to 5,778 by 2010, in subdivisions spread across about nine square miles of open, rural land near the Chain O'Lakes. They are mostly single-family homes, and about 70% of residents live in areas the Census counts as rural.

At the visit we look at what can stay and what should go: the layout, the peninsula or island if there is one, and how high the wall cabinets can run. Around the Chain O'Lakes, many summer cottages became year-round homes during and after the Depression and the war. If your house began as one, tell us at the visit, so we plan for the room as it is.

Do I need a permit for new cabinets in Spring Grove?

Spring Grove sets its own building rules, and the McHenry County Building Division covers only unincorporated areas, so for an address inside the village the village decides. Its building department page says: "Most building projects require a permit to ensure codes for safety and structural integrity are met." It does not name kitchens or cabinets. (Village of Spring Grove, as read 2026-10-28; confirm for your address.) We confirm with the village whether your job needs a permit, and we pull it ourselves when one is required.

Visiting the shop

The shop is at 7706 Industrial Dr, Suite H. Visits are by appointment; there is no walk-in showroom. At the shop you can see door samples, finish samples and past work. For a first meeting we usually come to your house, so we can measure the room and see how it is used.

What to settle first in a Spring Grove kitchen

  • Keep the layout, or change it. Keeping the sink, the range and the refrigerator where they are keeps the job to cabinets and counters. Moving any of them moves plumbing, gas or wiring too, and other trades join the job. Decide this first; the drawings follow from it.
  • How high the cabinets go. Wall cabinets can stop below the ceiling or run all the way up. Running them up adds storage you reach with a step stool, and there is no dust shelf on top.
  • The basement. If the house has a basement, think about it now, even if it comes later. A bar, a media wall or a wall of storage is easier to plan with the kitchen than on its own a year after.
  • How the house is used. A year-round family house and a weekend house near the Chain need different things from the same cabinets: more drawers and a pantry for the first, easy-care finishes and storage for gear for the second.

Basement bars and more: what else we build in Spring Grove

The basement bar above shows what a Spring Grove lower level can hold. Beyond kitchens and the basement bar, we build:

  • mudroom benches and lockers by the back door or the garage door;
  • laundry room cabinets with a folding counter;
  • walk-in and reach-in closets;
  • bathroom vanities, including floating vanities hung on the wall;
  • built-in bookcases, media walls and home offices.

Nearly every job we do includes the trim around it, so the new work meets the walls and the floor cleanly.

From the first visit to installation, minutes from the shop

  1. The visit. It starts with a visit. We measure, we listen, and we give you a straight number. If it works for you, we design it with you, and only then do we build. For a Spring Grove house the drive is a few minutes, and the visit and consultation are free.
  2. The design package. If the number works, the design package covers the detailed measuring and the drawings, a 2D layout, 3D renderings or both, with one major revision, and ends with the final price. If you move forward with Da Vinci Woodwork within 90 days on substantially the same project, the full design-package fee is credited toward your contracted work.
  3. The build. Roughly 6 to 8 weeks from signed drawings for an average kitchen; built-ins and closets usually 4 to 6. Everything is built in our shop on Industrial Drive, and you can visit the shop by appointment to see samples and past work.
  4. Delivery and installation. We deliver and install ourselves, usually in 1 to 3 days for a full kitchen and less for a vanity or a single built-in.
  5. After. A written 1-year workmanship warranty from the install date; hardware carries its maker's own warranty.

Spring Grove questions

Can I come to the shop instead of a home visit?

Yes, by appointment. For a new kitchen we usually come to the house first, so we can measure the room.

Do you only work in Spring Grove?

No. We build here and install across McHenry, Lake, Kane, DuPage and Cook counties. See the towns we serve.

Do you build for lake houses on the Chain?

Yes: kitchens, vanities, built-ins and mudroom storage. Tell us how the house is used, year-round or seasonal, so we can choose the materials.

Can I see finish samples before I decide?

Yes. Door and finish samples are at the shop, a few minutes from most Spring Grove houses, by appointment.

Do you build basement bars?

Yes. Our Spring Grove bar is in a basement. Tell us the size of the room and what you want behind the bar: shelves, cabinets, a wine rack.

Family owned. Insured and licensed where required. We build in our own shop and install the work ourselves.
